A Lecture in Love

Synopsis

A Lecture In Love is a 20-minute drama about a sixth-form school trip that turns into a tale of deceit, adultery and the demise of a schoolteacher. When 28-year-old teacher, Will, starts dating a student it puts his marriage, job and everything he holds dear to, on the line.

Will is married to head teacher Angela, (54). One of the faults in their relationship is their vast age gap, which results in Will’s affair with 18-year-old student, Kate.

Will sees Kate as more than just his ‘bit on the side’, but does she feel the same way? Throughout the story, Kate appears to be innocent and caring towards Will, however as the story unfolds we learn that appearances can be deceitful.

Will and Kate’s secret love affair is jeopardized by various events that occur throughout the school trip. It isn’t until the end where the truth is revealed, the scenes become more intense and the characters are left emotionally distraught.

A bit about us

The three of us came up with the story for 'A Lecture In Love' together. We were aware that this type of situation happens in many schools, but we wanted to address the subject from a slightly different perspective. We started brainstorming ideas back in September 2008 and went through several scripts until we were happy with characters, their motives, and the plot.

Twelve drafts and five months later, we had finally created the perfect script and we could not wait to start casting and filming. We based the drama on a school trip in Eastbourne, and we filmed in March over four days. The cast and crew all stayed at the hotel we filmed in for the four days and by the end of the shoot, the 'A Lecture In Love' team became a small family.
